My Special Day

Day Time

I celebrated my birthday back at my mum’s place. By now, I think you guys should have guessed that I love going home to my mum’s place, and I try to do it fortnightly. Hubs doesn’t follow us as he has to work on weekends as well. This is a place where I can totally relax and have some free time to myself even without having to leave the house (ie. I can sleep in on weekends). The kids would be fully entertained by Has and Amat.

FoodMore Food

As you can see from the pictures above, my mum bought me a cake, cooked chicken rice and taugeh, tapau-ed roast duck and liver(?) and made some red eggs for this birthday girl. I feel so pampered by her *hehehe*. We didn’t go out, just had a nice lunch at home. Very relaxing.

Night Time

Hubs called me at the last minute asking if I wanted to go for dinner at Shangri-La Hotel. We have membership card to this hotel and since it’s expiring soon, this is a good time to go for a meal there. We went to Zipangu which serves Japanese food. It’s truly an experience to dine in this restaurant, service was excellent and the ambiance was great (not to mention the price too! *LOL*).

Dinner @ Zipangu

We had the Zipangu Course, an order of Wagyu beef and Sashimi Moriawase. The dinner was great, not quite stuffing us to the brim, mind you, but it was enjoyable. I particularly liked the foie gras and the wagyu *hahaha*.

Hokkien Mee @ Petaling Street

After this meal, hubs could still stuff himself with Hokkien mee from Lien Bee at Petaling Street, one of our favorites if we happen to go to Petaling Street at night. This hawker operates in a backlane just near Sinma, and they used to fry their food using coal (this last visit not using coal anymore).

Our date ended after hubs stuffed his face *keke*, and by then he was already darn sleepy (due to pou-ing his latest TVB movie during the day and not sleeping like he should). After we sent him home, I went back to my mum’s to complete my weekend there. Bliss!

How Embarassing…

Guess what happened at work today?

Flowers from Hubs

I was halfway through some paperwork when one of my colleague dumped a bunch of flowers on my desk. My first thought was… OMG!! I can’t think of anything more embarrassing that receiving flowers at work (unless of course someone barges in during a pumping session like what Vien went through). I know most people would be thrilled to get flowers at work, but not me. I hate the attention, and flowers kinda bring loads of attention. People were passing by my desk asking if it’s my birthday… which is obvious lah, I’m married and I’m 8 months pregnant, what do you think?? *LOL* Anyway, this is the first time I received flowers at work, and I hope it’s the last *keke*… thanks dear, but a nice dinner would be better than wasting money on a bunch of flowers *bleh*.

Ivan’s 4th Birthday

I’m still here. I didn’t go and pop a month earlier than my due date. I’m just lazy and tired, so I end up sleeping rather than blogging. Without further ado, let me jot down Ivan’s 2nd birthday celebration at my mum’s house last last Saturday (28th June) which is his exact birth date.

Yummy Cake From San Terri

We didn’t have anything elaborate, just steamboat dinner with family members. Went to the market early in the morning to grab all kinds of fish paste products and vegetables. I made some konnyaku jelly with fresh orange and some with canned longan which the kids love. Everyone ate at their own pace, with no games planned. We did have cake cutting and then having the birthday boy open his presents.

Food, Glorious Food

Too bad I wasn’t the photographer for the day *LOL*, I was busy preparing the jelly and the food. My brother stood in for me and he had the DSLR on auto mode. That was just fine too, except that I think his finger was in the way of the flash so quite a few of the pictures turned out with a dark area (as seen in the picture above) *faints*.

Happy Birthday to Youuuuuu...

Overall, I think it was a fun night. I certainly hope the kid was happy… his presents for this birthday:
Mommy, Papa & Izac - Transformers Figurine
Ah Ma - Rubbermaid Water Tumbler
Ah Ee Poh - Ultraman Figurine & Knife
Ah Ku & Ah Kim - Set of Clothes
Aunty Mimi & Siti - Shirt
Ah Ee Leena- Power Ranger Mask & Figurine
Amat & Has - Water Gun
I think he loves the Ultraman the most, he’s still so crazy over this hero *hehehe*.

Happy Birthday Ivan Dear! Mommy love you… sooooo much!

Cupcakes for Classmates

Ivan celebrated his birthday during school hours, in his class last Thursday (26th June), since this is the first year he is able to celebrate it in school. I arranged two celebrations which were very simple indeed (2nd one at home with the family, post coming soon), as having an eleborate one for 2 kids yearly (including a 3rd one coming) will be a wee bit taxing on my sanity *LOL*.

Ultraman & Spiderman Cuppies

I ordered 26 cupcakes for RM114 (varies depending on design) from Tracey one week before as I felt that cuppies will be less messy for kids in school. I kind of forgot to tell her to make it less sweet, but the cupcakes turned out great! The Ultraman and Spiderman patterns were sweet and understandably so, as the icing are all made of sugar, but the cake itself were fluffy and buttery. The cupcakes were collected a day ahead, on Wednesday night.

When I brought him to school with the cakes, the teachers instantly know that there’s gonna be a birthday celebration that day. I guess it’s all part and parcel of teaching young school goers. Izac and Supini tagged along, Izac loves sending his brother to school whenever permitted *grins*. So I checked with the teacher when they normally have their meals and suggested that the party packs be given out after class so as not to disrupt the attention of the kids.

Izac - Big Boy Soon

After dropping him off in the classroom, rather than going home and coming back again in 1 hour, we hanged out in the car (where some camwhoring of Izac went on *LOL*). When time was nearly up, we waited outside the classroom. As I sat unknowingly, the teacher set up the cupcakes and came out asking me if I wanted to take pictures. So fast *LOL*… so I went in and took some auto shots as the class was in darkness (lights were off for the candles… I really need the external flash!!).

Birthday Boy

Candles and Classmates

It was very organised how the teacher arranged the kids to stand beside Ivan and they were all told ahead NOT to blow the candles *haha*. It was over very quickly, with the teacher offering to take a family picture for us. After that, I went out of the class to let the children eat (can hear the boys saying, “I want Ultraman!”. Teacher instructed Ivan to bring out cuppies for me, little Izac and Supini.

My Boys & I

After finishing the cupcakes, I packed the leftover into the car, and had another round of waiting, as it was a waste of time to go home and come again (not forgetting waste of fuel). Although this is such a simple party, I hope this 4-year-old boy was H-A-P-P-Y, like it said on the cupcake.

Term 2 Starts & SIL#2’s Birthday

Two weeks is over in just a blink of an eye… today Ivan goes back to school like all the other kids. I just hope he won’t kick up a fuss like the last time he had a short break and refused to return to school after that. I guess he should be missing his teachers and classmates.

Last Thursday, we celebrated SIL#2’s birthday. It was just a simple one, hubs cooked bak kut teh at home and I bought a cake from San Terri Cottage (love their Footy cake to bits!). Yeah, my hubs can cook pretty well, but mostly pork dishes (need I say more?).

SIL#2's Birthday Cake

So, we had bak kut teh followed by cake cutting after some personal friends arrived. Izac just loves cakes and pastries, you can see him already eating the cake with his eyes! He loves to stand with one leg crossed over like in that picture too. Picture above was taken by Ivan the photographer, looks like tonnes of candles on that cake but she’s not 30… yet!

It was quite uneventful as the birthday girl just ate the cake, sat for a while and then disappeared upstairs to her room once again. She’s kinda like a hermit crab sometimes *LOL*.

Pool Time & Meeting Ultraman

I can’t seem to finish jotting down everything that’s happened last weekend, it truly is a fully packed weekend. This should be the last installment. For Sunday, after going to the wet market with my friend Jenny and stocking up on food for the week, we (maid and I) managed to finish hanging out the baby’s clothes for drying.

After that, I packed some clothes and the kids (also the maid lah) and off we went to Jenny’s house for a cooking session and later a dip in the pool for the children. Don’t know since when, but we kinda started this random weekend cookout mainly because both of us aren’t great cooks, and rather than spending the weekend aimlessly in the malls, we spend it over at her place. It’s a relaxing time, nothing much to elaborate… just some pictures to show *grins*.

The Fishes

Izac the Fish

The kids took a nap after swimming. By 6pm, I woke them up and rushed home as I promised to bring Ivan to Ikano for Ultraman Max’s picture taking session. We we’re nearly late for the 1 hour picture session as Ivan-the-little-vainpot decided that he wants to be difficult and choose his own clothes. After that, he insisted that I had to wear it for him. Of course he kena scolded like mad by me (which I will talk about in another post).

So we finally reach Ikano, and the queue was a million miles long. But luckily we were just in time as after a while the authorities came and cut off the line, meaning they’re not accepting any more fans. It turned out that we have to spend RM19.90 for any CD at Speedy to be able to take pictures with Ultraman Max. I wasn’t informed of this when I bought the CD last week, so what to do… buy another for the boy lor.

Ultraman & Monster

Ivan, the ultimate Ultraman fan

After the queue and all that, I was just glad the weekend is over. (Hmm… notice Ultraman Max kept holding onto his mask? Maybe it’s too heavy. And he had to take a break in the middle of it all, I heard the authorities say he’s sweating like mad in there :S). We had a late dinner and after that we went home. I need a rest, man.

The aftermath…

::::::::::: IVAN SAYS :::::::::::

Ivan: “Mommy, so nice hoh, take picture with Ultraman!”
Mommy: “Yeah, luckily we reached there on time.”
Ivan: “So nice, but his hand so smelly.”
Mommy: o.O” “Eh, really?! I don’t know wor, Ultraman only hold your hand. Maybe he hold so many people’s hand that’s why smelly.”

To the School & Annie’s Place

The day after the school excursion we went to Ivan’s school again, this time for the centenary food fair. I guess it’s partially a donation drive, as items sold by the kindergarten teachers were from donations from parents a few weeks before. Other stalls belonging to primary and secondary school children were mainly selling food.

Bustling with Life

So we went, and we sweated… buckets! *LOL* It was a really hot day. Since we didn’t wake up early enough, we went there at 11-ish am and that place was already bustling with life. I walked around with the 2 books of coupons (bought previously in Ivan’s class) and really couldn’t find anything to use it for. We finally used the coupons for a bunch of stationery, some drinks and a centenary cap. I just couldn’t bring myself to buy any food as the heat would have probably made it all go bad.

We made a quick exit after about an hour or so there when Izac started fussing. I went straight to tapau some food for our lunch, chicken rice. I needed to feed them quickly before they start feeling sleepy. Also, I planned to go out and buy presents for the twins (yeah, yeah… last minute… again!) once these 2 boys knock off so that I can do it quickly (can never do anything quickly with these 2 tagging along).

I got my mission accomplished by 6pm, just in time to freshen up and change, because we were due at Jazzmint’s house at 6.30pm. We seriously thought we were the first ones to reach Annie’s place but alas… Angeline beat us to it *LOL*. The party was a relaxing one, steamboat with a small group of people. I already know Annie’s family because they are friends of hubs. I think there were as many children there as there were adults… havoc man! But since it was a house party, the kids could ransack the house while the adults had their meal *keke*. The cupcakes were yummilicious… here’s Ivan showing his approval while Izac digs in.

The party was great and well planned. Thanks, Annie, for having us and a very happy 3rd birthday to Fearles and Cruz!

Happy Belated Mother’s Day

Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all mommies out there!

This is just like me… belated, when I really planned to have this up by Saturday midnight. This year I celebrated my 3rd Mother’s Day and also it marks the 1st year that I have gotten something from my dear boy Ivan. He started kindergarten early this year so I guess it’s to be expected.

Card Front

Card Back

It’s really a wonder how moms can be so happy over a simple gift like this. But just knowing that he did it himself with a little guidance from his teacher makes it so special.

::::::::::: IVAN SAYS :::::::::::

Ivan: “Mommy, this is for you! Happy Mother’s Day! Are you happy?” (he kept asking if I’m happy :P)
Mommy: “Thank you darling! Yes, I’m happy.” *beaming*
Ivan: “Inside got two sweets, but I eat one already.”
Izac: “Izac mau.” (takes remaining sweet)
Ivan: Ehhhh… cannot, for mommy wannnn…”
Mommy: “Never mind Ivan, give it to sailo, one for you and one for sailo.”

::::::::::: IVAN SAYS :::::::::::

Happy Merdeka!

*Clearing some cobwebs* Ahem…

Happy National Day you all!

Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

Sorry for being MIA for so long, I guess life kinda caught up with me and I had to entertain it for a little while there. Other than that, I seem to love falling asleep with the children (or even earlier than them sometimes!) these past 2 months.

But I’m back (hopefully!), so stay tuned for more updates on the little guys!

A “Whopping” Birthday Bash

Yuppers. We were there. It could be the event of the year. There were so many blogger mommies and daddies there. There are many whom I have met before, a few that I’m meeting for the first time and some that I saw but was not introduced to.

This time I wasn’t really late. When I arrived, many mommies wasn’t there yet. I managed to grab a seat with Tracy and Destinee, as well as at the same table as Shannon, Tecky and Rachel. I think maybe coz I’ve been meeting up with bloggers for a few times now that I felt less shy *LOL* (believe me, I’m not the bubbly type who can go around chatting people up).

After settling down, I went around being Santa, giving away presents to the moms of the birthday kids… Amah, Annie and Barbara. I brought my own marker to write the notes on the presents *LOL* coz I had been meaning to get cards to go with them but I ran out of time. The whole week has been too hectic. When I got to Ashley’s present, I decided to include my BLOG because I doubt her mommy knew who I was *hahaha*.

The party was a successful one, even for me when I have 2 kids who clung to me. Ivan refused to go into the playroom by himself and let mommy sit and chat with the other mommies. I managed only a few pictures myself, mainly because my camera ran out of battery. And till this day, I am still in search of the charger!

Halfway through, Jazzmint left I didn’t even notice it. I was totally engrossed in the clown playing games with the kids. But seriously, the clown is totally gross, but he was quite entertaining for the kids. Towards the end, I had to leave on time as I needed to attend another full moon party at my friend’s house (you say this month I pokai or not lah like this).

Some photos to share… enjoy!
