Ivan, Scrapbook

Lampin Addict

There are many quirks when it comes to Ivan. One of them is his love for his jut-jut (Kiddy Cantonese: pacifier) and his lampin (Malay: muslin napkin). Without either one of these two items, he cannot go to sleep. When he was a baby, my mum used to give him a hanky when he sleep. After some time, since he always seem to sleep better with that piece of cloth, I decided it’s better for him to use the lampin (can’t have him walking around with a lil hanky when he’s a boy, can we? *LOL*).

Even now at almost 3 years old, he still does not seem to be getting rid of this habit anytime soon. Hubs is constantly trying to rid him of this habit, always scolding me for giving him the jut-jut when he asks for it during bedtime. I, on the other hand, do not see any problem with it. I guess I believe that once he starts pre-school or play group he will automatically quit.

When I was younger, I had my own “smelly” pillow too. I used to lug it everywhere I go, this small little “security” pillow. Even when I went travelling and when I went to Australia for studies. Perhaps you could even say that I condone this habit of his, coz mommy used to do it herself *LOL*.

Hmm… where do I want to go? For the past year, I have been biding my time, wanting to visit Australia again with hubs and the kids. Reason being: the country is beautiful and clean, the people friendly, it’s baby-friendly there and I’m sure my kids can experience good clean fun there. Hubs have not been there before too, I’m sure that he will enjoy all the wine tasting there.

When I was studying there, I only went to Sydney and Melbourne. I have an aunt who stays in Sydney and I was studying in Melbourne. I guess I really want to bring my kids there to visit Ballarat, Ye Olde Sydney Town, Wonderland, strawberry and tulip farms and not to mention, the vineyards! I would be so fun and I hope, relaxing…

Nemo On Ice

sleepy head

(Click here for layout & credits.)

Sorry for the short hiatus. I’ve been feeling pretty tired for the past week and each night as I lay down to nurse Izac, I tend to fall asleep as well. Even today (err… last night). I just woke up just now at 2.30am when Ivan needed to go shee-shee and decided that I MUST blog *LOL*.

I brought Ivan to see Nemo on Ice on last Saturday. We went with my mum, Eleena, Haslina and Selamat. The initial plan was to bring Izac as well, but I am not sure that he can sit through the entire show without disrupting everyone’s concentration. He does not even watch much cartoon at home when his brother watches. So at the end after some coaxing from my mum, I decided to leave him at home. My only consolation is that I will bring him there next year if there is a show.

The show was pretty good (it’s MY first time to Disney on Ice, so can’t compare). Ivan was totally thrilled at all the colors and Nemo! And you know what, he didn’t make any demand to buy anything (good thing about him lah) that day, but just looked at the things they were selling there. The memorabilias were sold at crazy prices too… popcorn or drinks at RM20 - RM30 per pack?! (but of course they do come with a Nemo-on-Ice bucket). One complain though… I think the performers should have at least stayed back for a little while after the show is over and all the lights are switched on. That way we can take some pictures mah. I should have bought the most expensive ticket as those seats have the most picture taking opportunities. From where we were (lower tier, right in front of the stage), I couldn’t get any decent pictures with the Canon Ixus 60.

However, we all enjoyed ourselves. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat, just for the look on Ivan’s face.

Sleeping Through & New Wheels

“Ummm-maah… ummm-mah”, cries little Izac.

That’s what he calls me nowadays. Yesterday after his last feed at 10.30pm he slept through till this morning at about 5.00am. Stirring from his sleep, he whimpered faintly, “Ummm-mah… ummm-mah”. “Yes Izac, mommy’s here,” I replied as I lay down next to him. He returned with, “Dis… dis…”

Yeah, he slept through the night yesterday and yup, “dis dis” means it’s milk time. I was woken up by Ivan who wanted to go shee-shee at 4.30am and couldn’t go back to sleep. In the wee hours dawn, hearing the little fellahs call out so softly, they’re like little angels sent from Heaven (yup, I’m feeling a wee bit sentimental today).

Guess what I bought over the weekend?

A new Peg Perego stroller for Izac! He’s started to like sitting on a stroller and since he’s getting bigger, carrying him for more than a while is starting to be quite a task. The good thing about this stroller is there is a “rear footboard with anti-slip rubber insert for transporting a sibling”. For those times when we do not bring two strollers, Ivan can actually stand between this stroller and mommy, and he will be pushed together safely without him running all over the place dangerously. The padding is also good for a more comfortable sleep if and when the children need to sleep.

On a side note, do any of you feel like the second child is sometimes deprived of new things? Being a second child, it is not unusual for parents to reuse stuff bought for their elder sibling. Especially clothing. Sometimes I really have to keep in mind that Izac needs new stuff, not just reusing Ivan’s clothes, toys and other baby things. Of course, rather than wasting money, those which are reusable, must use lah… but do you think at 33 months Ivan should already stop using a stroller and give it up for Izac whenever need be?

Updated 4th Apr 2007:
Few weeks ago, we went to Genting and Izac was fast asleep on the stroller. Ivan pulak felt sleepy after sometime. This kor-kor fussed and insisted on sitting on his stroller (he loves his stroller). So what to do, have to “tie” Izac to the maid using the baby sling coz he’s the lighter of the two.
